Amici Art Contest

Appreciation for the Arts

As an arts organization, we appreciate the incredible contribution that creative people make to our community, and we look for any opportunity to support existing artists and encourage new ones.

Since 2010, Chamber Music Amici has solicited art work from Lane County artists in a contest where winners help us promote our concerts. Their work graces the covers of our program books, highlights our concerts on our website, appears in social media posts, and more!

In return, artists of Lane County have won cash prizes through both the regular and People’s Choice Awards categories, and have had their work on show at the Emerald Art Center in Springfield, starting with their debut at the popular and well-attended annual reception, with food, music, and art on the program.

Explore the gallery below of past winners, and see  guidelines for our new format of this annual event, an art commission inviting all Oregon artists to apply.

Chamber Music Amici Art Commission 2023-2024 Winner

Chris Pontrelli

Congratulations!

Chris, who was a previous winner in 2012 and 2020 of our Art Contests, won this year’s commission of three new pieces for his work that captures the spirit and exuberance of chamber music. Two existing pieces of his will be added to make five pieces we will use to promote our concerts in the 2023–2024 season, which begins in October.

We so appreciate how Chris injects strong color and design, and uses a playful sense of rhythm, in each of his works, which reflect the joy of our programs!

Landscape Artist: Alisha B. Whitman

Chamber Music Amici was fortunate to find Alisha through our 2023-2024 Art Commission applications. Only one artist can earn the commission, which was Chris Pontrelli, but after reviewing her application and her inspiring art, we contacted her  to commission a piece for our summer series at Mt. Pisgah. Alisha’s use of color and movement captures the special quality of this well-loved place in the Eugene-Springfield area.
